Bollywood film industry mourns the loss of acclaimed director Sanjay Gadhvi, famous for directing the first two installments of the Dhoom franchise. The 57-year-old filmmaker passed away in Mumbai due to a heart attack. Reports indicate that Gadhvi experienced chest pain while on his morning walk along the Lokhandwala Backroad in Andheri West, Mumbai. Despite swift transportation to a nearby private hospital, doctors confirmed that he was brought in dead.
Sanjay Gadhvi began his Bollywood journey in 2001 with the film “Tere Liye,” which garnered limited attention. However, he achieved success in 2002 with “Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai,” a Yash Raj Films production. His breakthrough came with the direction of “Dhoom” in 2004, a blockbuster that not only set the box office ablaze but also paved the way for a successful film series. Gadhvi’s directorial prowess continued with “Dhoom 2” in 2006, starring Aishwarya Rai, Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Uday Chopra, which became a massive hit.
Despite the success of his early projects, Gadhvi faced setbacks with later films like “Kidnap” (2008) and “Ajab Gazabb Love” (2012), which did not perform well at the box office. His digital debut occurred with Amit Sadh’s “Operation Parindey,” premiering on ZEE5. The sudden demise of Sanjay Gadhvi led to an outpouring of condolences from Bollywood celebrities, expressing their grief and sympathies to his family. The last rites for the acclaimed filmmaker are scheduled for this evening.
