The 54th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is set to showcase a staggering 270 movies during its nine-day run, with the inauguration scheduled for November 20 at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium in Bambolim, Goa. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, in a press conference, stated that the festival’s infrastructure is nearly complete, with 99% readiness, requiring only some final touches. The event will feature 198 international films, including 13 premieres, and Sawant emphasized accessibility for differently-abled delegates at all festival venues.
Sawant shared that the newly inaugurated Kala Academy building in Panaji would host master classes and other events, although film screenings would not take place at this refurbished venue. Additionally, the CM highlighted cultural programs showcasing Goan flavor along the Mandovi promenade in Panaji, welcoming non-delegates to participate. Furthermore, open-air movie screenings are planned at popular locations such as Miramar Beach, Ravindra Bhavan (Margao), and Anjuna Beach. Sawant mentioned the submission of 20 Goan film entries, with seven selected by a jury for screening at IFFI.
