In a troubling incident, supporters of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar reportedly threw black paint on the face of writer-author Namdev Jadhav in Pune. The altercation arose after Jadhav accused Pawar of not ensuring rightful reservations for the Maratha community in education and government jobs during his tenure as the state’s chief minister.
The incident unfolded near the Patrakar Sangh, where Pawar’s supporters confronted Jadhav, hurling black paint on him and chanting slogans in favor of Pawar. A video capturing the confrontation showed police intervention to rescue Jadhav amidst the slogans raised by the NCP leader’s supporters. Following the incident, Pune NCP chief Prashant Jagtap took responsibility, asserting that party workers resorted to throwing paint on Jadhav’s face in response to derogatory remarks he made against Sharad Pawar.
