In a tragic incident at Koyilandy, a woman, identified as Koyilothumpadikkal Shylaja (50), wife of late Ramadasan from Anakkulam, was discovered lifeless on a railway track on Friday. Reports suggest she was struck by a speeding train around 11.30 am on Thursday near the Kollam railway gate.
Initially, the body remained unidentified due to its scattered state on the track. It was only by noon that Koyilandy police confirmed the victim’s identity as Shylaja, based on observations from nearby witnesses who had seen her on the railway track. According to these accounts, Shylaja was observed walking on the tracks on Thursday morning.
Following necessary inquest procedures, the police transferred Shylaja’s remains to Koyilandy Taluk Hospital. While the incident is suspected to be a case of suicide, the authorities have not officially confirmed this aspect.
