Indian coach Rahul Dravid praised captain Rohit Sharma’s exceptional leadership despite the team’s defeat in the World Cup final, ending their 10-match winning streak. Dravid highlighted Rohit’s aggressive batting, setting a positive tone throughout the tournament.
“His batting was fantastic, the way he set the tone for us. We wanted to play a positive attacking brand of cricket,” Dravid stated. “And he was very committed to doing that. I just can’t speak more highly of him as a person and as a leader.”
Reflecting on the final, Dravid acknowledged falling short in total runs and credited Australia’s bowlers for exploiting the conditions. Despite the loss, he emphasized the team’s commitment to learning and moving forward.
“There were a lot of emotions in that dressing room. It was tough to see as a coach, because I know how hard these guys have worked,” Dravid added. “That’s sport. That happens. We’ll learn from it. We’ll reflect and move on, as will everyone else.”
