Indian Air Force deploys 2 Rafale jets to investigate ‘UFO’ sighting near Imphal

Following reports of unidentified flying objects near Imphal airport on Sunday, the Indian Air Force (IAF) swiftly responded by deploying Rafale fighter aircraft to investigate the sightings. The UFO sightings, occurring around 2:30 pm, led to disruptions in several commercial flights. In response, a Rafale fighter from a nearby airbase was immediately scrambled to search for the unidentified objects, equipped with advanced sensors for a low-level flying operation over the suspected area. However, the initial sortie did not yield any findings, prompting the dispatch of an additional Rafale fighter for further investigation. Despite these efforts, the UFO was not located in the vicinity.

Authorities are now working to gather more information about the UFO, acknowledging the existence of videos capturing the sighting over Imphal airport. After ensuring the clearance for flying at Imphal airport, the Eastern Command of the Indian Air Force, headquartered in Shillong, activated its Air Defence response mechanism. While specific details of the actions taken were not disclosed, the Eastern Command mentioned that the small object was no longer visible following the initial visual inputs from Imphal airport.

The Rafale fighters involved in the search are stationed at the Hashimara air base in West Bengal and operate across various air bases in the eastern sector along the China border. Notably, these fighters recently participated in the extensive Air Force exercise Poorvi Akash along the China border, showcasing the collaboration of major air assets and army troops in the region.
