The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that the cyclonic circulation emerging over Kanyakumari could lead to isolated thunderstorms in various parts of Kerala over the next five days. A yellow alert has been issued from Sunday to Thursday, with Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, and Idukki districts placed on alert for the entire duration. The IMD urged the public to exercise extreme caution, highlighting the anticipation of rainfall similar to an orange alert in these districts.
The forecast predicts heavy rainfall (7-11 cm in 24 hours) at isolated locations in Kerala from November 19 to 21, and a shift to very heavy rainfall (12-20 cm in 24 hours) on November 22 and 23. Additionally, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are expected at one or two places in Kerala from November 20 to 23, as per the IMD alert.
