The Cholapuram police arrested a Siddha practitioner on Sunday in connection with the death of a young man whose body was discovered buried in the backyard of the practitioner’s residence. P Ashok Rajan (27), a professional car driver from Manalmedu near Kumbakonam, had gone missing after Deepavali. His grandmother, Padmini, reported him missing to the Cholapuram police on November 14. CCTV footage revealed that Ashok, who left his bike at a parking lot in Cholapuram, had headed to East Street. Further investigation uncovered his association with T Kesavamurthy, a practitioner of Siddha medicine.
Upon detaining Kesavamurthy, the police interrogated him, revealing that he had administered a drug to Ashok for virility, resulting in Ashok’s death. Subsequently, Kesavamurthy allegedly dismembered Ashok’s body and buried it in the backyard of his residence. Authorities exhumed Ashok’s body on Sunday. The police are now investigating whether Kesavamurthy may have murdered Ashok due to potential rejection of his sexual advances.
