Former Karunagapally MLA and CPI state council member R Ramachandran passed away on Tuesday morning at a private hospital in Kochi, where he was undergoing treatment for liver-related ailments. The veteran politician’s demise marks the end of a significant era, and his cremation is scheduled for 10 am on Wednesday at his residence in Karunagappally. The public has been invited to pay their respects at the CPI Kollam district committee office, as well as the Chavara and Karunagappally mandalam committee offices.
Ramachandran, who served as the CPI candidate from the Karunagappally constituency in the last assembly elections, had a distinguished political career. Additionally, he held the position of CPI’s Kollam district secretary for an extended period and also served as the LDF convenor. His contributions to the political landscape and the CPI have left a lasting impact on the region.
