Actor-comedian Vir Das secured the International Emmy Award in the best comedy series category for his stand-up special, “Vir Das: Landing,” announced the organizers. The 51st International Emmy Awards Gala took place at the New York Hilton Midtown in New York City on Monday night. This marked Das’ second nomination and his first victory in this category, sharing the trophy with the popular British teen sitcom “Derry Girls” season three. Expressing his excitement, Das described winning the International Emmy for the best comedy series as an “incredible honor that feels like a dream.” Competing nominees included “El Encargado” from Argentina and the French show “Le Flambeau” season two.
In addition to Das’ success, renowned producer Ektaa R Kapoor received the International Emmy Directorate Award in recognition of her significant contributions to the world of arts and entertainment. Kapoor, co-founder of Balaji Telefilms production house, expressed her delight at receiving this prestigious award and notably became the first Indian woman filmmaker to be honored with this recognition. The International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences conducts the International Emmys annually to celebrate excellence in global television.
