Jehovah’s Witnesses in Kerala Commit to Heightened Security Measures After Blasts

In the aftermath of the destructive bomb attack during its gathering in Kerala on October 29, the Jehovah’s Witnesses, a minority religious group, have declared a commitment to ensuring the safety and security of their members at all future conventions, meetings, and gatherings. Satish Joseph, a staff member of the Public Information Department at the national headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses in India Bengaluru, underscored the organization’s decision to prioritize the safety of its followers and expressed a willingness to seek assistance from the police if required. The community in Kerala continues to grapple with the shock of the devastating blasts that occurred at its prayer convention in Kochi last month, claiming six lives and injuring several others. The victims included three members of a family, including a 12-year-old girl.

The date of October 29, 2023, remains indelibly etched in the memories of Jehovah’s Witnesses, reflecting the tragic events during the prayer convention. In the wake of the incident, a man named Dominic Martin, who asserted himself as an estranged member of Jehovah’s Witnesses, surrendered to the police in Thrissur district, claiming responsibility for the multiple blasts.
