Mammootty- Jyothika ‘Kaathal’ faces ban in Middle Eastern countries

The highly anticipated release of the Mammootty and Jyothika-starrer ‘Kaathal – The Core’ is scheduled for November 23, marking their first collaboration and Jyothika’s return to Malayalam cinema after a 13-year hiatus. However, recent reports indicate a setback for the film in two Middle Eastern countries. The censor certificate for ‘Kaathal’ has been denied in Qatar and Kuwait, citing concerns about the film’s content as the reason for this decision. This incident underscores the challenges faced by films in the Middle East due to content-related issues, reminiscent of the obstacles encountered by Mohanlal’s 2022 action thriller ‘Monster,’ which faced a ban in multiple countries over LGBTQ content. The ban in Bahrain was eventually lifted after the censor board requested the makers to trim 13 minutes from the film.

In addition to Mammootty and Jyothika, ‘Kaathal – The Core’ features a talented ensemble cast, including Lalu Alex, Muthumani, Chinnu Chandini, Sudhi Kozhikode, and Adarsh Sukumaran. Salu K Thomas handles the cinematography, and the film is produced by Mammootty under the banner of Mammootty Kampany. Despite the challenges in the Middle East, the film is poised for its release, eagerly awaited by fans.
