A woman was taken into custody by the Uttar Pradesh Police on charges of attempting to get money from her husband, a police officer, by threatening to post pornographic footage of them online.
personnel stated on Tuesday that Sangeeta Devi, the woman, had been blackmailing and extorting money from government personnel after getting married.
The woman threatened to post their private spycam footage on social media if her third husband, police officer Shivam, did not pay her demands of Rs 30 lakh. In addition, she threatened to file a rape case against her husband.
Shivam first brought up the matter with the woman’s brother and parents, but they also pushed him to give in to her requests for a house and money.
After meeting his wife on Facebook and being married in June of this year, he then lodged a police complaint against her. The case also names Sangeeta’s father and brother as the accused.
After an investigation, it was found that Sangeeta was married for the third time and had a history of enticing people in the government sector with false pretences and extorting large sums of money from them. According to police officials, the woman was using marriages as a trap to ensnare government officials.
She was sent in jail, and an inquiry is still ongoing.
