Traditional Kulkuls recipe for Christmas

Ingredients:

1. 2 cups all-purpose flour
2. 1/2 cup semolina (sooji)
3. 1/2 cup coconut milk
4. 1/2 cup powdered sugar
5. 1/4 cup ghee (clarified butter)
6. A pinch of salt
7. Oil for deep frying
8. Desiccated coconut for coating (optional)

Instructions:
1. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, semolina, and a pinch of salt.

2. In a small saucepan, warm the ghee until it melts. Add the melted ghee to the flour mixture and mix well.

3. Gradually add coconut milk to the mixture and knead it into a smooth, firm dough. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 30 minutes.

4. Take small portions of the dough and roll them into small balls. Using a fork, make an indentation on each ball, creating a pattern on the surface.

5. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Fry the rolled dough balls until they turn golden brown and crispy. Ensure they are evenly cooked.

6. Remove the fried kulkuls from the oil and place them on absorbent paper to remove excess oil.

7. While the kulkuls are still warm, roll them in powdered sugar to coat them evenly. You can also add desiccated coconut for an extra layer of flavor.

8. Allow the kulkuls to cool completely before storing them in an airtight container.

Enjoy these delightful kulkuls as a sweet treat during festive occasions!
