Kerala faces heavy rain, Idukki on orange alert

The India Meteorological Department forecasts that Kerala will experience continuous heavy rainfall, along with lightning and strong winds, until Saturday. Idukki district is on an orange alert, signaling heightened caution, from Tuesday to Thursday. This alert level indicates the possibility of very heavy rainfall, ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm within a 24-hour period. Additionally, Pathanamthitta is also under an orange alert on Tuesday and Thursday, emphasizing the potential for substantial rainfall in these regions.

Simultaneously, the hilly areas of the state capital have been enduring relentless rainfall since Tuesday morning. Reports indicate that this persistent precipitation has led to waterlogging, causing disruptions in traffic on numerous roads, including state highways. The situation underscores the need for residents and authorities to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions in response to the challenging weather conditions.
