In a recent verdict, a 37-year-old man named Madhu, hailing from Nadavayal, has been sentenced to two-and-a-half years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 7,000 by a Fast Track Special Court. This legal action follows his attempt to sexually abuse girls on a school ground, a heinous crime falling under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, occurring in August 2022.
Judge KR Sunilkumar presided over the case, highlighting the severity of the offense. This judgment comes on the heels of Madhu’s prior conviction just a month ago, where he was sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment in a similar case.
The incident from 2022 was reported to the Panamaram Police by Inspector KA Elizabeth, leading to an investigation headed by sub-inspector Vimal Chandran, who subsequently filed the charge sheet. The dedicated team also included Senior Civil Police Officer Mercy Augustine and additional sub-inspector Vinod Joseph.
Public Prosecutor Adv G Babitha played a crucial role in representing the prosecution, emphasizing the commitment to seeking justice for the victims in this distressing case.
