Mumbai: The Indian rupee opened flat against the US dollar on Friday. The muted trend in global markets and the persistent dollar demand by local importers weighed on the Indian currency . While a drop in crude oil pieces supported the Indian rupee.
At the Interbank foreign exchange, the Indian rupee opened flat at 83.34 against the US dollar. On Thursday, the Indian rupee ended 2 paise lower at 83.34 a dollar.

The dollar index, which gauges the US currency’s strength against a basket of six currencies, was trading 0.10% lower at 103.22. On Thursday, the Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought Indian shares worth Rs 255.53 crore, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) purchased shares worth Rs 457.39 crore.
