Inglis’ century in vain as Captain Surya leads India to victory in 1st T20I against Australia.

Despite the World Cup final defeat, Skipper Suryakumar Yadav showcased leadership with a belligerent 80, steering India to their highest successful T20 International chase. Rinku Singh’s calm 22 not out played a crucial role in the thrilling victory, highlighting his fearlessness and composure under pressure.

The partnership of 112 runs between Surya and Ishan Kishan kept India in the hunt for a win. Kishan’s initial struggle transformed into a confident 58, featuring five sixes. Rinku, designated as the team’s finisher, displayed nerves of steel, securing victory with a maximum on the last ball.

In contrast, India’s young bowling attack faced a stern test as Josh Inglis dominated with a spectacular 110 off 50 balls for Australia. Inglis targeted Ravi Bishnoi’s googlies, hitting six sixes off him. Steve Smith’s contribution added to India’s woes, as the inexperienced bowlers struggled to contain the onslaught. The second-string attack’s tough day must have left them introspective after the stellar performances in the World Cup.

Inglis’ audacious strokeplay, including a reverse sweep and a slash over point, marked his first international century. The onslaught exposed Bishnoi’s one-dimensional approach, and Prasidh Krishna failed to find rhythm. The bowling unit, accustomed to World Cup success, faced a reality check against a dominant Australian batting display.
