MVD seizes Robin bus at 1am, relocates to police camp.

The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) took decisive action against the controversial private bus, Robin, for persistent violations of permit rules. Upon its return to Pathanamthitta from Coimbatore at 1 am on Friday, a substantial police force accompanied the MVD authorities in seizing the bus, subsequently relocating it to the Pathanamthitta police camp.

In response to these actions, a case has been registered against the bus for permit violations, and the MVD is pursuing the cancellation of the driver’s license. A Rs 7,500 fine was imposed near Erumeli during the early hours of Friday.

Disputing the owner’s claim of a favorable Supreme Court verdict, MVD officials stated their intention to take action against vloggers who encouraged law violations. Simultaneously, bus operators expressed outrage at officials allegedly violating court orders.

Despite the bus being released in Tamil Nadu after a Rs 1 lakh fine on Tuesday, no fines have been paid in Kerala. The Robin bus’s Pathanamthitta-Coimbatore service, initiated on August 30, faced setbacks, with fitness cancellation by the MVD after two days at the Ranni private bus stand. Following a 45-day fitness test process, the bus resumed service on October 16 but was seized in Ranni due to permit violations. It was returned after 25 days following the Ranni Judicial First-Class Magistrate Court’s order, accompanied by a Kerala High Court directive to permit the service.
