Prannoy and Satwik-Chirag Advance to China Masters Quarterfinals

Indian shuttler H. S. Prannoy and the dynamic duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty showcased their prowess at the China Masters badminton tournament. Prannoy, the lone Indian in men’s singles, secured a convincing 21-12, 21-18 victory against Denmark’s Magnus Johannesen in a 40-minute clash.

Seeded eighth, Prannoy is geared up for a quarterfinal showdown against third-seeded Japanese Kodai Naraoka. Meanwhile, Satwik and Chirag, the world No.5 top seeds, triumphed in men’s doubles, defeating the Japanese pair Akira Koga and Taichi Saito with a scoreline of 21-15, 21-16.

Their next challenge awaits in the form of the Indonesian pair Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin. Against Johannesen, Prannoy demonstrated strategic brilliance, securing a lead and employing long rallies to clinch the first game.

The second game unfolded as an intense battle, reaching a deadlock at 18-18 before Prannoy’s prowess prevailed, securing his quarterfinal berth. The Indian contingent remains optimistic as they progress through the competitive field in the China Masters tournament.
