ISRO’s rocket launch 60th anniversary celebrated by Union Minister Jitendra Singh

Union Minister Jitendra Singh inaugurated the 60th-anniversary celebrations of ISRO’s rocket launch and commended the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) for its instrumental role in transforming India’s space ambitions into reality. During the program, the Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Atomic Energy, and Space (Independent Charge) highlighted the success of the Chandrayaan mission, aligning with the 60th year since ISRO’s inaugural rocket launch. Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs, V Muraleedharan, praised ISRO’s global contributions, emphasizing that India’s achievements, spanning space, science, and technology, are a source of pride on the international stage.

Presided over by ISRO Chairman S Somanath, the event witnessed the presence of VSSC Director Dr S Unnikrishnan Nair, IIST Chancellor Dr B N Suresh, former SPL Director Prof R Sasidharan, and other dignitaries. A symbolic rocket launch, reminiscent of the historic 1963 event, was organized at the same location. The celebration included an RH 200 rocket launch, a space technology exhibition, interactions with students, and informative lectures by scientists. The gathering served as a tribute to the remarkable journey of ISRO and VSSC in elevating India’s status in space exploration, reaffirming the nation’s prowess in the field.
