Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a flight on the Tejas aircraft on Friday, expressing his confidence in India’s indigenous capabilities. Posting on the social media platform X, PM Modi announced the successful completion of the Tejas sortie, describing the experience as enriching and boosting his belief in the nation’s self-reliance. He commended the Indian Air Force, DRDO, HAL, and all Indians for their hard work and dedication, emphasizing that India stands on par with global standards in the field of self-sufficiency.
Earlier in the day, Modi visited the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in Bengaluru to inspect ongoing work at the manufacturing facilities. The Prime Minister has been a strong advocate for indigenous defense production, highlighting his government’s efforts to enhance manufacturing capabilities within India and promote exports. The Tejas, a light combat aircraft, has attracted international interest, with countries exploring partnerships for its procurement. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh celebrated India’s record-high defense exports, reaching Rs 15,920 crore in 2022-2023, marking a significant accomplishment for the country in this sector.
