In a startling incident, a 36-year-old Pune man lost his life after his wife punched him in the nose for neglecting to take her to Dubai to celebrate her birthday. The tragic episode unfolded on Friday at the couple’s residence in Pune’s Wanavdi neighborhood, situated in an upscale residential complex. The victim, identified as Nikhil Khanna, a 38-year-old businessman in the construction industry, had married Renuka six years ago out of love.
According to a senior police officer from Wanavdi Police station, the altercation occurred on Friday afternoon when Nikhil reportedly failed to fulfill Renuka’s expectations for her birthday celebration. The preliminary inquiry revealed that the dispute escalated as Nikhil did not arrange a trip to Dubai and did not purchase expensive gifts for both her birthday and their anniversary. Additionally, Renuka was upset with Nikhil for not responding positively to her request to visit Delhi for relatives’ birthday celebrations. In the midst of the argument, Renuka struck Nikhil in the face, resulting in multiple fractured teeth and a cracked nose. The force of the blow caused Nikhil to lose consciousness while bleeding profusely. Renuka has been detained by the police pending further investigation, following a complaint filed against her under IPC Section 302.
