Malkangiri: At least 6 labourers were killed and 7 others injuredin a road accident. A cement-laden truck with these people on board overturned and fell around 20 feet below in Odisha’s Malkangiri district.
The accident took place at Hantalaguda ghat in Swabhiman Anchal area. The truck was on its way to Jodamba from Chitrakonda. All the victims hailed from Kosagumuda area of the neighbouring Nabarangpur district.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed grief over the death of people in the accident and announced a compensation of Rs 3 lakh for the families of the victims. He also ordered free-of-cost treatment for the injured persons and wished them a speedy recovery.
In another accident, at least 3 persons were killed in a collision between a car and a motorcycle in Daspalla area of Nayagarh district. The car with pilgrims from Chhattisgarh was going to Puri. 3 persons on the motorcycle died on the spot.
