In Ludhiana, drunk driver leaves truck on rail track; loco pilot avoids accident

A truck driver in Ludhiana abandoned his car on a train track just before a train was scheduled to cross the track, apparently under the influence of alcohol, according to authorities.

They reported that the loco pilot prevented a collision by slowing down and stopping the train a few meters away from the vehicle after becoming aware of the situation.

According to Government Railway Police (GRP) Investigating Officer Jasvir Singh, the truck driver drove his car onto the main Ludhiana-Delhi railway track on Friday night and began traveling from Sherpur towards the Ludhiana railway station before it became stuck.

The truck’s driver fled the scene, but Singh stated that residents saw it on the track and quickly alerted the railway officials.

Later on, the police stated, the vehicle was taken off the track, and the driver was taken into custody.

According to them, there was a brief interruption in rail activity before it was resumed after around an hour.

According to them, the driver’s medical check revealed that he had consumed alcohol.
