A Chamarajanagar district MTech graduate has garnered praise from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for her eco-friendly venture, inspired by his radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat.’ During a recent episode of the program, the prime minister commended Varsha for her initiative, which has served as motivation for others. Varsha, hailing from Ummattur in Chamarajanagar, founded Akruthi Eco-Friendly Enterprises, specializing in producing various items from banana stems, including mats, mobile stands, pen stands, hats, and fridge covers.
The prime minister acknowledged Varsha’s efforts, stating, “‘Mann Ki Baat’ inspired Varsha to stand on her feet. This initiative of nature-loving Varsha has offered lots of employment opportunities to others.” Varsha shared that she was inspired after hearing the prime minister discuss a Tamil Nadu-based businessman who utilized banana fibers for a venture during the Covid lockdown. Expressing her joy at the recognition, Varsha expressed her determination to elevate the business further.
Her enterprise focuses on using banana stem fiber to create sustainable products, contributing to employment opportunities in the region.
