A member of the Kozhikode District Congress Committee (DCC), N Aboobacker, along with two local leaders from the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), faced suspension for their involvement in the Kerala government’s outreach program, Nava Kerala Sadas, which went against party directives.
Aboobacker, the DCC member and chairman of Kunnamangalam block panchayat development standing committee, was suspended after attending a breakfast meeting in Omassery as part of the program. The meeting included invited guests from Koduvally, Beypore, Thiruvambadi, and Kunnamangalam constituencies. The suspension letter was issued by DCC president Adv K Praveen Kumar.
The IUML state committee also took action, suspending U K Hussain, the party’s Koduvally unit secretary, and Moidu Mittayi, the Pazhavana ward committee president from Kattippara panchayat. The suspensions are pending further investigation.
The United Democratic Front had previously instructed all its constituents to refrain from participating in the Nava Kerala Sadas. It’s noteworthy that Aboobacker was previously associated with the A faction of the Congress party and later became a staunch supporter of Kalpetta MLA and Congress working president T Sidheeque.
