On Sunday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids in Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh as part of an ongoing investigation into the Pakistan-backed Ghazwa-e-Hind module case. A press release from the central agency reported the seizure of incriminating documents and digital devices, including mobile phones and SIM cards, during the operations. In Kozhikode, Kerala, the raid focused on the South Beach area, targeting the residences of migrant workers.
The investigations uncovered connections between the suspects and handlers based in Pakistan, with the NIA asserting that these individuals were actively promoting the radical and anti-India ideology of Ghazwa-e-Hind. Raids were conducted not only in Kozhikode but also in the Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh, Gir Somnath district of Gujarat, and Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh.
The NIA initiated the case on July 14, 2022, in Patna, Bihar, following the arrest of Marghoob Ahmad Danish, the administrator of a WhatsApp group named ‘Ghazwa-e-Hind.’ The group, created by a Pakistani national identified as Zain, aimed to radicalize youth under the guise of establishing Ghazwa-e-Hind over Indian territory. Marghoob had added individuals from India and other countries, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Yemen, to the group, which was active on multiple social media platforms.
The NIA’s investigations revealed that the group was being operated by suspects based in Pakistan. The raids in multiple states were conducted to dismantle the network and gather evidence against those involved in propagating the extremist ideology associated with Ghazwa-e-Hind.
