Police release sketch of suspect in Kollam girl abduction case

Following the abduction of a six-year-old girl in Oyoor, the police have unveiled a sketch of the suspect. A statewide investigation is underway to locate the child, as the abductors have demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh for her release. Inspector General Sparjan Kumar stated that the probe team has gathered vital details to track the four-member gang involved in the incident. The child, Abigel Sara Reji, was forcibly taken into a white sedan on Maruthanampally Road near Oyoor at approximately 4:45 pm. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the dedicated police helpline at 112.

The investigative team crafted the sketch of a middle-aged man based on the statement provided by a shopkeeper named Joy. He reported that a man and woman visited his shop, purchased biscuits and coconut, and deceived them into borrowing their phone. The woman, using the shopkeeper’s phone, contacted the girl’s mother. Subsequently, the abductors initiated their first call, demanding a ransom of Rs 5 lakh. Later, the same woman used another phone to contact the family and increased the ransom to Rs 10 lakh. The police are conducting thorough searches of vehicles, abandoned locations, and houses in the district. According to reports, the gang allegedly used a white car for the abduction. Visuals of the incident have surfaced, but the shopkeeper revealed that three gang members arrived at his shop in an autorickshaw.
