New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in several states. The national weather agency issued a warning for heavy rainfall in Madhya Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh along with the potential for hailstorms. IMD also has issued a rainfall alert over Nicobar islands from Tuesday onwards.
IMD also predicted light to moderate rainfall at some places accompanied with isolated thunderstorm and lightning in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, north Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh.

Meanwhile, Gujarat witnessed at least 27 fatalities due to multiple lightning strikes, amidst widespread unseasonal rainfall that caused damage to homes and standing crops. The incidents of lightning-related deaths occurred within a 24-hour period starting early Sunday morning.
IMD said that the minimum temperatures are likely to fall gradually by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the Northwest and central part of the country during the next 3 days. The moderate fog at isolated pockets is also likely in morning hours over both the regions.
