Marvel Studios has promptly made a significant alteration to the script of the upcoming film Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, confirming Michael Waldron as the writer for the project. Waldron, renowned as the creator of the popular series Loki, has become a notable figure in Marvel’s storytelling landscape. He played a crucial role in shaping Loki and contributed to the script of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Additionally, Waldron is set to pen the script for Avengers: Secret Wars, the film that will follow Kang Dynasty. The release schedule outlines Kang Dynasty hitting theaters on May 1, 2026, followed by Secret Wars on May 7, 2027.
The decision to enlist Waldron as the writer comes in the wake of director Destin Daniel Cretton stepping away from the project. Despite Cretton’s departure, he maintains involvement with Marvel, working on the TV show Wonder Man and the sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
