Mumbai: Indian equity benchmark equity indices ended Wednesday’s trading session in the positive territory. The NSE Nifty 50 gained 95 points or 0.48% to settle at 19,889.70. The BSE Sensex surged 204 points or 0.31% to end at 66,174.21.
About 1872 shares advanced, 1750 shares declined, and 159 shares remained unchanged. Top gainers were Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports and SEZ, Tata Motors, BPCL, and Coal India. Top losers were Eicher Motors, Apollo Hospitals, ICICI Bank, Hindustan Unilever, Sun Pharma, ITC and Cipla.

On the sectoral front, power and oil & gas indices added 3% each, while metal, auto and PSU Bank indices rose 1% each. On the other hand, some selling is seen in the capital goods, FMCG and pharma sectors. BSE midcap index up 0.3% and smallcap index ended on a flat note. The Indian Volatility Index (India VIX) closed up by 7.45%.
