Director Sudha Kongara, recognized for her work on films like ‘Soorarai Pottru’ and ‘Irudhi Suttru,’ recently became entangled in controversy when Kollywood producer K E Gnanavel Raja accused her of criticizing director Ameer Sultan. Gnanavel alleged that Sudha had commented on Ameer’s filmmaking, claiming it fell short of expectations.
As the situation gained traction, Sudha took to X and Instagram to clarify her stance. She shared an anecdote from 2016 when Ameer praised her work on ‘Irudhi Suttru’ and highlighted that her character Madhi was inspired by Muthazhagu from Ameer’s film ‘Raam.’ Sudha expressed her respect for Ameer’s creation, stating, “This is my homage to a master filmmaker of Tamil cinema.”
The rift between Gnanavel and Ameer is longstanding. In a recent interview, Gnanavel asserted that Ameer exceeded the budget for ‘Paruthiveeran,’ a project he had bankrolled. Ameer, however, refuted the allegations, stating that he used personal funds when the project surpassed the initial budget. The ongoing feud adds complexity to the controversy involving Sudha Kongara and sheds light on the dynamics within the Tamil film industry.
