Kyiv officials have accused Moscow of committing a war crime based on a grainy video circulating on social media. The unverified video suggests that several soldiers shot two surrendering military personnel who emerged from a dugout at gunpoint.
In the video, one soldier is seen coming out of a foxhole on the battlefield with his hands raised, lying on the ground. A second soldier stumbles out and also lies down. Russian troops then appear to open fire, and the video concludes.
The Ukrainian General Prosecutor’s Office asserted that the video depicts a group of individuals in Russian uniforms shooting, at point-blank range, two unarmed servicemen in the uniform of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who were surrendering.
It’s important to note that Reuters could not independently verify the authenticity, date, or location of the video clip. Additionally, the Russian defense ministry has not responded to requests for comment on the matter.
