Paramjit Singh, an associate of Khalistani terrorist Lakhbir Singh Rode, was detained by the Punjab Police on Tuesday at the Amritsar airport due to his role in funding terrorism and subversive activities within the state.
Significantly, Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale’s nephew and Khalistani terrorist Lakhbir Singh Rode died in Pakistan on December 2, according to authorities. It was reported that Rode had a heart attack.
According to sources, Rode’s final ceremonies were carried out in secrecy in Pakistan in accordance with Sikh traditions and customs.
The Punjab Director General of Police posted on X upon the arrest of Paramjit Singh, stating, ‘In a major breakthrough, SSOC Amritsar has arrested UK-based, Paramjit Singh alias Punjab Singh alias Dhadi from Amritsar airport.’
‘An associate of Lakhbir Rode, Chief of banned terrorist outfit International Sikh Youth Federation, Dhadi has been involved in terror funding and other subversive activities in Punjab,’ the police added.
The police described Singh’s arrest as a ‘major blow’ to the terror module trying to undermine regional peace and stated that an investigation is in progress to find and expose the terrorist network.
Signals from Pakistan’s secret agency ISI indicate that the recently deceased Khalistani terrorist Lakhbir Singh Rode was involved in terrorist actions against India in Punjab at the direction of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI.
Rode was the leader of the International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF), an organization that was banned. The government had labeled Rode a terrorist.
