Grammy-Award winner Billie Eilish, who recently confirmed her queer identity, experienced a significant loss of over 100,000 followers on Instagram. Reports indicate that in the last 30 days, the singer saw a drop of 117,750 followers, peaking on December 3. Approximately 40,428 users unfollowed Eilish after she openly discussed being ‘attracted’ to women in a recent magazine’s Power of Women issue.
During an interview at Variety’s annual Hitmakers Brunch event, Eilish addressed the statement made in the magazine. When asked if she intended to come out, she responded, “No, I didn’t. But I kind of thought, ‘Wasn’t it obvious?’… I didn’t realize people didn’t know.” She expressed skepticism about the concept of coming out, stating, “I’m just like, ‘Why can’t we just exist?’ I saw the article, and I was like, oh… I guess… I came out today!” Eilish admitted to feeling nervous discussing it but concluded, “But… I am for the girls.”
