Trivandrum Doctor’s death : Messages deleted from Dr. Ruwise’s phone

In the investigation into the tragic death of Dr. Shahana, a 26-year-old postgraduate medical student in the surgery department at the Government Medical College in Trivandrum, the probing team discovered that messages had been deliberately erased from Dr. Ruwise’s phone. Authorities are now poised to subject the mobile phone to a comprehensive cyber examination. Dr. Ruwise, facing charges of abetment to suicide and violations of the Dowry Prohibition Act, was apprehended following allegations from Shahana’s family that she took her own life due to his withdrawal from a marriage proposal over a dowry dispute.

Upon scrutinizing Dr. Ruwise’s phone, the investigative team uncovered a deletion of messages sent to Shahana, suggesting a potential effort to tamper with evidence. Dr. Ruwise was taken into custody from a relative’s residence in Karunagappally as he sought anticipatory bail, and there were indications that he was planning to go into hiding upon realizing he would be implicated in the case. Despite searches at a hostel and his residence in Thiruvananthapuram, the police were unable to locate Ruwise.

Notably, a note purportedly written by Shahana was recovered from her room, although it did not reference the dowry issue or level any accusations against anyone. The note simply conveyed, “All everybody needs is money. Money is bigger than anything.”
