Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival Scheduled for December 14-17

The organizers announced on Thursday that the eighth edition of the Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival (BVFF) is set to take place in Guwahati from December 14 to 17. The Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio will host the festival, showcasing 30 selected films from a pool of over 200 entries, as revealed by Festival Director Tanushree Hazarika during a press conference. The event will also include panel discussions, fireside chats, masterclasses, and a filmmaking introduction workshop in collaboration with the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.

Hazarika stated, “BVFF is a celebration of stories that ignite hearts and inspire minds. We aim to be a catalyst, fostering meaningful cinema, connecting diverse talents, and promoting the vibrant culture and breathtaking landscapes of Northeast India.” The festival has partnered with Amazon Prime Video, offering independent filmmakers the unique opportunity to pitch directly to the prominent OTT platform.

With over 200 film submissions, this year’s BVFF received approximately 120 from the Northeast and the rest from across India. Esteemed personalities like Krishna DK, Prakash Jha, Tanuja Chandra, Leena Yadav, Adil Hussain, and others are expected to grace the festival. BVFF Technical Director Samujjal Kashyap highlighted enhancements, including an additional screen to broaden the film screening capacity, providing viewers with more choices and creating a balanced platform for short films, feature films, and documentaries.
