Mumbai: The Indian rupee appreciated against the US dollar in early trade on Friday. The a positive trend in domestic equities ahead of the Reserve Bank of India’s monetary policy decision supported the local currency .
At the interbank foreign exchange, the Indian rupee opened 2 paise higher at 83.34 against the US dollar. On Thursday, the rupee settled at 83.36 against the US dollar.

Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the US dollar’s strength against a basket of six currencies, was trading 0.05%t higher at 103.59. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the Indian capital markets on Thursday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 1,564.03 crore.
