A tragic incident unfolded at Kozhikode railway station when Dr. M Sujatha (54), a female doctor, met her demise while attempting to board a moving train. The incident occurred around 10:15 am on Friday as Dr. Sujatha, intending to travel to Kannur, encountered the Ernakulam-Kannur Intercity Express slowly starting to move. Despite the Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials advising against it due to safety concerns, she attempted to board when the train slowed down slightly after the officials left. Unfortunately, despite efforts from passengers and RPF officials to help her, Dr. Sujatha slipped and fell into the gap between the train and the platform.
