Hindu temple in Bur Dubai relocates services to Jebel Ali next month

The venerable 60-year-old Hindu temple in Bur Dubai is set to move its services to a new location in Jebel Ali, effective Wednesday, January 3, 2024. Notices have been prominently displayed at all entrances of the Shiva temple in Bur Dubai, informing devotees about the relocation to Jebel Ali. The notice underscores the shift, stating, “This is to inform all our devotees with effect from Wednesday, January 3, 2024, this temple will be shifted to our new Hindu Temple, Jebel Ali.”

Constructed in the late 1950s, the temple in Bur Dubai has served as a sacred place for worship for the Hindu community in the UAE for several decades. Devotees, such as Punit Mehta, who has been visiting since childhood, express a sense of nostalgia and sentimentality as they bid farewell to the familiar Bur Dubai temple. Another worshipper, Narendre, residing in Al Qusais, shares a touch of sadness, noting the connections formed over visits to the temple with fellow worshippers, flower vendors, and idol sellers, all becoming integral parts of his life.
