Three individuals, including two gunmen, were apprehended in Chandigarh by the Delhi Police’s Crime Branch and the Rajasthan Police in a joint operation. The arrests were related to the murder of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, chief of Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, who was shot in his Jaipur home on December 5. The assailants were identified as Rohit Rathore from Jaipur and Nitin Fauji from Haryana’s Mahendragarh, and a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh was announced for their capture. The arrests were made in Chandigarh’s Sector 22, and the accused will be handed over to the Jaipur Police for further investigation. Another individual, Ramveer Jat, was arrested in Jaipur for allegedly contracting the shooters.
The accused, Fauji and Rathore, had been hiding in Chandigarh, and their arrest was the result of coordinated efforts by the Delhi Police and the Rajasthan Police. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Rajasthan Director General of Police played a crucial role in the operation. After being brought to Jaipur, the accused will face formal charges in the murder case. Gangster Rohit Godara, associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, had claimed responsibility for the murder, citing Gogamedi’s alleged support for his adversaries.
