Tragedy struck in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district as a brick kiln chimney collapse resulted in the death of at least three workers, with over 30 individuals sustaining injuries, according to local authorities. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening in Dhaltitah village, Basirhat, during the operational hours of the brick kiln. The injured, all employees of the brick kiln, were primarily treated at Basirhat Hospital, where one person succumbed to injuries, and two bodies were recovered from the debris.
Approximately 20 individuals are currently receiving medical attention at Basirhat Hospital, while two severely injured victims were transferred to RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The victims include two individuals from Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh, namely Jethuram and Rakesh Kumar, along with local resident Hafizul Mondal. A substantial police force has been mobilized for ongoing rescue efforts, and investigations into the cause of the chimney collapse are underway.
