Chhattisgarh: Sai govt sanctions 18 lakh houses for the poor in maiden cabinet meeting

In Chhattisgarh, the newly formed Vishnu Deo Sai government, in its inaugural cabinet meeting held a day after the swearing-in ceremony, has granted approval for the allocation of 18 lakh houses under the PM Housing scheme for rural poor. Sai, addressing a post-cabinet press conference, emphasized that this initiative fulfills a ‘Modi guarantee’ and aligns with the party’s election manifesto. He highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment during the campaign to sanction these houses as a priority for the BJP government.

During the press conference, Sai criticized the previous Bhupesh Baghel-led Congress government, accusing it of causing economic depletion in the state. He pledged that the BJP government would fulfill 100% of its promises, addressing the concerns raised during the election. Sai also announced the disbursement of pending paddy bonuses (amounting to Rs 4,200 crores from the last tenure of the Raman Singh-led BJP government) to farmers on December 25, coinciding with the birth anniversary of late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Responding to recent Maoist incidents in the state, Sai affirmed a commitment to combat Maoist extremism strongly, building on the BJP’s previous efforts during its 15-year tenure. The review of schemes initiated by the previous Congress government was also discussed, with Sai stating that effective programs would be continued, while others found lacking in utility would be discontinued or modified.
