In an encounter between security forces and Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Sunday, a sub-inspector of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) lost his life, while a constable sustained gunshot wounds, according to police reports. The incident unfolded on Sunday morning in the Jagargunda police station area when a team from the CRPF’s 165th battalion was engaged in an anti-Naxal operation. The operation, initiated around 7 am from Bedre camp toward Ursangal village, led to an exchange of gunfire.
During the confrontation, Sub-Inspector Sudhakar Reddy was fatally shot, and Constable Ramu suffered bullet injuries. The gunfire ceased, and four suspects were apprehended at the location. A joint security team is conducting a search operation in the region. The injured constable is being transported to the hospital for medical treatment. The encounter underscores the ongoing challenges security forces face in regions affected by Naxal insurgency in India. Efforts persist to address the security threats posed by Naxal groups through targeted operations and intelligence-driven measures in affected areas.
