Raipur: A sub-inspector of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was killed and a constable injured in an encounter with Maoists. The encounter between security personnel and Maoists took place in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Sunday.
The deceased sub-inspector has been identified as Sudhakar Reddy, while the constable has been identified as Ramu. A team of the CRPF’s 165th battalion was out on an anti-Maoist operation. During the operation, an exchange of fire broke out. Four suspects were rounded up from the spot by the CRPF team. A joint team of security personnel was carrying out a search in the area.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his deep sorrow and offered condolences to the family members of Reddy. Sai also instructed officers to make arrangements for the proper treatment of Ramu.
Earlier on December 13, 2 personnel belonging to the Border Security Force (BSF) and Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) had also been martyred in back-to-back IED explosion detonated by the Maoists in Narayanpur and Kanker.
