JSW Chief Sajjan Jindal faces rape charges

JSW Group Chairman and Managing Director Sajjan Jindal has been accused of rape in an FIR filed by the Mumbai Police. The complaint alleges that the incident occurred on January 24, 2022, at a penthouse in Jindal’s offices in Bandra Kurla Complex. The charges include IPC 376 (rape), IPC 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), and IPC 503 (criminal intimidation). According to the complainant, she first met Jindal on October 8, 2021, in Dubai, and they exchanged phone numbers. Despite her allegations of non-consensual sexual advances, the complainant stated that the accused raped her on January 24, 2022, at the Bandra Kurla Complex penthouse.

The FIR, filed on December 13, mentions that the woman had initially approached the police on February 16 to file a complaint, but they allegedly recorded her statement without providing a copy and did not register an FIR. The woman filed a writ petition against the police in the Bombay High Court on December 5, and the police registered the FIR on December 14 as ordered by the court. The police denied any delay in registering the FIR. Jindal has not yet responded to the allegations.
