Two more deaths from Covid-19 have been reported in Kerala. The deceased individuals, Kaliyattu Parambathu Kumaran, 77, and Moyiloth Palakkandi Abdulla, 83, died at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital and a private hospital in Kannur, respectively. Kumaran, a resident of Kundukadavu, and Abdulla of Panur, tested positive for Covid after their deaths. Kumaran had been under home treatment for over a month due to age-related ailments and was admitted to the hospital when his condition worsened. Abdulla was hospitalized with fever and cough.
The funerals were conducted following Covid protocols, and health officials have stated that there is no immediate cause for concern, as only a few people came in contact with the deceased. Test samples have been collected from relatives who were with Abdulla at the hospital. Authorities in Kunnummal panchayat have urged residents to exercise caution and avoid visiting the home of the deceased. With these two deaths, the total number of Covid-related fatalities in the state has reached five. On Saturday, Kerala reported 298 new Covid cases, bringing the total number of active cases in the state to 1,324, according to health department data. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and emphasize the importance of adhering to preventive measures to curb the spread of the virus.
