Mumbai: Indian benchmark indices broke 3-day winning run and ended lower today. At close, BSE Sensex was down 168.66 points or 0.24% at 71,315.09. NSE Nifty ended at 21,418.70, down 38.00 points or 0.18%.
About 1886 shares advanced, 1478 shares declined, and 124 shares remained unchanged. Top gainers were Bajaj Auto, Adani Ports, Sun Pharma, Hindalco Industries and Reliance Industries. Top losers were Power Grid Corporation, JSW Steel, ICICI Bank, ITC and Tech Mahindra.

Among sectors, pharma index up 1%, capital goods index up 0.7%, while realty index down 1% and bank index down 0.5% BSE Midcap index rose 0.3% and smallcap index gained 0.5%.The Indian Volatility Index (India VIX) closed up by 5.88 %.
