Album Pink Friday 2 by Nicki Minaj tops the Billboard 200 chart

Nicki Minaj is wrapping up 2023 on a triumphant note as her album “Pink Friday 2” claims the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart. This achievement not only secures her album as the current No. 1 but also sets a record for the most No. 1 albums by a female rapper. The success of “Pink Friday 2” marks the biggest debut sales week for a rap album by a woman in the last four years.

This record joins Nicki Minaj’s earlier accomplishments, with her debut album “Pink Friday” (2010) and “Roman Reloaded” (2012) having previously reached the pinnacle of the Billboard 200 chart.

The latest data indicates that “Pink Friday 2” opened with the equivalent of 228,000 albums sold during the week ending December 14. Notably, the album achieved strong sales in vinyl format. Comprising 22 songs, the album features collaborations with renowned artists such as Drake, Lil Wayne, J. Cole, 50 Cent, and others. It also incorporates samples from a diverse range of musicians, including Billie Eilish, Blondie, Rick James, and more. Alongside the album’s success, Nicki Minaj has announced a 2024 arena tour scheduled to kick off in March.

In addition to Nicki Minaj’s achievements, emerging artist Tate McRae has secured her first top 10-charting album on the Billboard 200. Other notable records in the Top 10 include Taylor Swift’s “Midnights,” “Lover,” and “Folklore,” SZA’s “SOS,” Michael Bublé’s “Christmas,” and Morgan Wallen’s “One Thing at a Time.”

On the singles front, Mariah Carey continues to dominate the charts with “All I Want For Christmas Is You” maintaining its position at number 1.
